Lip Tattoos
Lips tend to lose their definition and colour as we age, especially around the vermillion border. This treatment redefines your natural lips, adds a stunning blush of colour, symmetry and gives the appearance of added volume. We treat many clients who have existing lip fillers, and some clients view permanent makeup as an alternative to filler.
Using the principles of facial morphology, we design and draw the perfect shape to compliment your natural features. You’ll approve the size, shape and colour before we proceed.
What is Permanent Makeup?
Also called micropigmentation, permanent makeup has been winning over many fans. Through the use of a device with a fine acupuncture needle, it causes the pigment to be implanted between the epidermis and the dermis and, thus, remains in the skin for a longer time.
The technique allows contouring the features of the face, leaving it more harmonious naturally, giving the appearance of being always lightly made up. It can be used more on the eyebrows, eyes and lips, but it also serves to correct skin imperfections such as scars and stretch marks.
What are the advantages of Permanent Makeup?
One of the biggest advantages of investing in permanent makeup is, without a doubt, practicality. Imagine waking up in makeup without having to spend precious time in front of the mirror whenever you have to go somewhere!
The pigments used rarely give any allergic reaction due to their non-toxic composition. Our range of organic pigments are vegan, hypoallergenic, contain no heavy metals, and very kind to the skin. Manufactured in Germany for over 30 years our pigments are tested by independent laboratories so you can be confident of what’s going into your skin.
How does a Cosmetic Lip Tattoo work?
Preparation is key to getting the best Lip Tint Tattoo results for our clients. A topical anaesthetic to pre-numb the lips is applied for approximately 20 minutes after which your technician will draw the perfect shape, taking extra care with the cupids’ bow. Depending on the desired end result, we recommend the best colour or combination of colours to compliment our clients’ natural features and skin tone. Our colour recommendation can vary from person to person depending on their natural lip colour, and what they are wanting to achieve.
Once our client is happy with the shape and chosen colour or combination of colours, we begin tattooing the lips which including the preparation, will take up to 2.5 hours. During the tattooing we use another anaesthetic which has been prescribed for each client to minimise any discomfort. Once the treatment has finished, lips can be slightly swollen for up to 10 hours, but our aftercare enriched with vitamin A and E ensures your lips heal beautifully. And as we use the most gentle European micropigmentation device, you’ll never experience any blisters or scabbing. The colour is much more intense in the days following your treatment and once healed the pigment will fade approximately 40% and settle in beautifully with your natural lip colour.
Please note, if you suffer from cold sores, we recommend an antiviral medication is taken prior to, or on the day of your appointment to ensure there is no outbreak.
Why should I consider a lip tattoo?

Also, lip tattoos are a great option if you have uneven lips, loss of vermilion border, thin, pale or poorly defined lips, or a cleft palate. Many client’s see a Lip Tattoo as a natural alternative to fillers providing definition, colour, and the illusion of fuller lips.

Which lip colour is the best for me?
It’s important you engage a practitioner that knows and understands advanced colour theory. We provide a colour consultation with every client that includes a series of questions to understand their relationship with make-up then we inspect our clients’ lips in detail before providing a colour recommendation.
If you have a fair complexion, and burn easily you have cool undertones, so cooler tones within our pink and red range would be most suitable. If you have a golden or olive complexion, and you tan easily you have warm undertones and our peach range is best for you. Some clients have neutral undertones so you’re lucky as any colour choice will suit you! For those clients after a very natural result we recommend our nude range and choosing 1-2 shades darker than your natural lip colour.
We have a huge range of organic vegan pigments from Nudes to more vibrant options in which we can mix and match, so you can be confident we’ll find the perfect pigment choice for you. And given all our Lip Tint Tattoo treatments have 2 sessions, you can always tweak your colour choice between sessions!
How long does the Lip Tattoo last?
Our organic pigments are semi-permanent and designed to fade naturally over time. The rate in which they fade largely depends on a clients age, skin type, lifestyle, skincare routine, and quality of aftercare. A Lip Tint Tattoo can last up to 2 years and will depend on the pigment choice, the lighter the colour the quicker it will fade. We recommend a yearly Colour Refresh to keep them looking on point.
Our Lip Tint Tattoo treatments utilise the most precise and most gentle micropigmentation device on the market and specially formulated medical grade anaesthetics which means there is little to no pain and virtually no downtime.
